ambr™
is a new system designed to mimic mammalian
cell culture in bioreactors at microscale
(10 – 15mL). It has been optimised
to reproduce suspension culture conditions
that exist within experimental 5 and 10L
bioreactors so that comparable results can
be obtained rapidly and at much lower cost.
|
| |
Unlike plate based systems,
bioprocessing automation with ambr allows
individual control of the environmental
conditions as well as feeding and sampling.
24 disposable micro bioreactors can be controlled
with an automated workstation to enable
a wide range of cell line selection and
development experiments to be run. The system
can be used to compare multiple clones to
select for stability and productivity or
multiple replicates of the same clone to
compare different feeding strategies and
culture conditions on growth and output. |
| |
Bioprocessing automation
with ambr
enables the rapid evaluation of multiple
bioreactor cultures at microscale, increasing
productivity in cell line development with
significant savings on materials and labour. |

workstation automates: |
| |
Following extensive R&D
in collaboration with leading bioprocessing
automation groups, the first automated
ambr workstations are now available
– offering parallel processing and
evaluation of up to 24 micro bioreactor
experiments in an automated bench top system. |
| |
- Closed loop control of pH and DO
with independent control of O2
and CO2 for each vessel
- Automated liquid handling for reactor
set-up, feeds, base addition and sampling
- Easy installation into laminar flow
hood allowing aseptic operation
- Optional integrated viable cell counting
|
| ambr
micro bioreactor system offers: |
| |
- A better tool for cell line selection
and development - closely mimics the
conditions of larger scale bioreactors)
- Simplified adoption of Quality by
Design (QbD) principles for cell culture
development
- Significant reduction in cost per
experiment
- More experiments with less operator
time for set up and clean down
|
| Applications
include: |
| |
- Automated bioprocessing
- Cell line stability
- Cell line selection
- Media feed strategies
- Process robustness experimentation
in support of ‘quailty by design‘
studies
- Automation of DOE approaches
to process optimisation
|
| |
ambr
micro bioreactor system offers an accurate
and cost-effective approach to bioprocessing
automation by replicating bioreactor conditions,
and can be used as a microscale model for
a wide range of upstream processes such
as cell line selection and process optimisation.
